“18th April 2023: By high recommendation from our hotel, off we went on this alpine and very scenic route that leads from Las Arenas to Tielve. We arrived at cheese maker Sr Bada around 10:30. We rang the door twice until a man half asleep appeared at the balcony above us. This was funny since the place opens at 10. But hey, not many tourists around at this period, so why not rest a little longer. We weren't entirely sure of the look on his face when we said we came to buy some of his cheese. But then he appeared and greeted us, opened the door to his small shop, we told him his cheeses were highly recommended and apparently the very best in the area. So he gave us a little taste of the 2 styles he produces, the Bada (his cheapest) and the Torku (creamier and 30 euros the kilo.) We decided to buy a kilo of the Bada and a 500g wedge of the most expensive one, after all we came to Asturias chiefly for these well renowned blue cheeses we love so much, so let's splash. Our cheese was carefully packed for our travel back home, we said our good byes and thanks for such delicious cheeses. The prices are very reasonable for sure, we are currently eating the Torku, then we'll attack the kilo of Bada! What a treat. We'll be back someday.”
